Welcome, Harry Potter fans to another magical journey at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! True fans of the Harry Potter series, have already witnessed the adventures of Harry and his friends at Hogwarts. They have walked step by step, as Harry and friends were forced to play a game of chess for their lives, rode in a magical flying car, survived the tasks of the Triwizard Tournament and even attain victory in their battle against the dark lord himself! We this time board the Hogwarts Express, to join Harry and friends as they face the trials of parenthood. If you are a parent yourself, you can possibly agree that this may be his greatest challenge yet.
Short Summary
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (HPATCC) opens as the reader join; Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione at the Kings Cross platform nine and three quarter, watching their children begin their own journeys at Hogwarts. Harry's son, Albus Severus Potter seems less than excited and anxious to begin writing his Hogwarts chapters. This is in stark contrast to the daughter of his best friends, Ron and Hermione's Rose. Rose is full of laughter and brimming with confidence. All aboard! The train departs with the next generation of wizards. Onward to their first day at Hogwarts!
On the young wizards' arrival to school, the normal welcoming ceremony gets underway. During the ceremony, the time comes for the new students to be sorted into their houses. In almost expected fashion, Rose Granger-Weasley is sorted into Gryffindor, the same as her mother and father. The son of Harry's old rival Scorpius Malfoy, is also sorted into his father Draco's house Slytherin. It was now young Albus' turn who surprisingly is sorted into Slytherin house as well.
Albus doesn't have an easy time using magic or making any friends for that matter. It's not hard to figure out that Albus didn't have a great first year.
Second-year comes around and Albus struggles at Hogwarts continues. Once again, in complete contrast Rose, has blossomed into a popular Quidditch player and does little less than snub Albus at this point. Harry also tries to urge his son into making a couple more friends this year. These words, fall on hopelessly deaf ears as Albus essentially replies that he doesn't need anyone other than his best friend Scorpius. You can almost taste the irony at this point. However, while Albus is happy with his best mate Scorpius, there's a rumor about him floating around. Rumor has it that Voldemort is Scorpius' real father. This obviously doesn't please Draco as tries to persuade Harry into using his position as Head of Magical Law Enforcement, at the Ministry of Magic to stop the rumor from spreading. What's going on with Scorpius himself right now you may ask? Well, Scorpius has a crush on our Rose but he doesn't seem to have much luck as she doesn't give him any time of day.
Another year passes and Harry's relationship with his son (the Cursed Child) becomes even worse. It was during a huge argument that Harry told Albus he sometimes wishes he wasn't his son and Albus also wishes he wasn't his father.
Later on, Albus overhears a conversation going on between his father and Amos Diggory. Amos is the father of Cedric, who was the winner of the Triwizard games during the year Harry competed. However, Cedric was killed after he won the tournament under the orders of Voldemort. This leads to the currently ongoing conversation between Harry and Amos where Amos asks Harry to use a recently confiscated Time-Turner to go back in to save his son from the fate of death.
Amos' niece Delphi Diggory joins and converses with Albus as both listen in intently to the conversation going on. Following this, the trio of Albus, Scorpius, and Delphi decide to steal the Time-Turner to save the life of Cedric. They obtain the magical item from the office of the Minister of Magic. The Minister just happens to be Hermione Granger-Weasley, not like that's a big deal or anything.
It is a big deal! However, how simply a couple were able to take such a dangerous item from her office without her or anyone knowing. I dare say the bloody woman may be going slightly daft in her old age. Nevertheless, Albus and co. journey to the past with great haste to save the life of Cedric. Will Cedric live be saved or will the child of Voldemort ruin the plans?
